From the pipeworks, digital feelings now pour out as paper. “Love and “hate” status updates are harvested from twitter in real time. Open the valves, hear the flow of feelings. Insert a coin, the feelings spew out from the pipe. now that they are in the material world, are they worth it?

I thought there must be a way of tagging the tweets so that they will end up here, and turns out, there is!

I used a Yahoo Pipe to get my tweets and filter out everything except ones with the hash tag (for me #beeplog). Then, grabbed the RSS feed for the pipe put set tumblr to import them here. Hopefully this should all work, waiting for tumblr to update my feed.. Zzzzz

Anyway you can get the yahoo pipe here.

If you put in your twitter username and preferred hashtag to use, click “get as rss” and copy that link into import feeds when customising your tumblr. Then the tweets with the specified hash tags should appear. I’m guessing you could fire the RSS into anything else that you would like to update. Have fun!

Twitter Radio.

This was created for the Live Performance Systems module last semester. It is an interactive installation which uses an old fashioned radio, to receive Twitter messages (or tweets). These tweets are organised into “stations” and using the radio, the user can “tune into” these spoken tweets. It uses an Arduino microcontroller to get the data from the tuning and volume dials, and a MaxMSP/Quartz program to receive the tweets, organise and speak the tweets.

Got featured on BBC and more!
